Case Study
One of our clients had a lot of Buxus sempervivens (Box) in tubs and in the borders. These plants are traditional topiary plants used for parterres and can be trained into all manner of shapes and styles.
Unfortunately one of the common problems for Buxus is 'Box Blight' caused by the transition of certain fungus' which can be transferred by wind, water and can be transferred by tools or people. This starts with defoliation but will result untreated with the plant dying, whilst also transferring the fungus to other susceptible plants.
In this scenario we implemented several measures such as pruning infected areas, educating on current practise, clearance of potential areas of fungus growth and a review of effective pesticide use.
Much of the time with the problems that need solving in gardens is that it takes time and more than one approach with continuous maintenance to prevent a severe return of an issue.
A year later the Buxus area is healthier and flourishing and we are preventing the return of the disease.
